Madonna teases “something bigger” for Summer 2027
Glastonbury Rumours Sparked: During a BBC interview, Madonna teased a “something bigger” project for next summer, sending festival speculation into overdrive.
New Album on the Way: The pop icon is gearing up to release her highly anticipated new record, Confessions II.
Emily Eavis’s Dream Booking: Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis has long made it known that Madonna is at the top of her wish list.
A Packed Rumour Mill: Pop heavyweight Taylor Swift is also heavily rumoured to be taking the stage at next year’s festival.
The Queen of Pop is officially back, and she might just be bringing her crown to Somerset.
Sitting down with chat-show host Graham Norton for a filmed BBC interview, Madonna opened up about her upcoming, hugely anticipated new album, Confessions II. The wide-ranging conversation spanned everything from her early days on New York’s club scene to her first visit to London in 1983, and her grief over the death of her brother, Christopher, in 2024.
However, it was a tantalizing tease right at the end of the interview that has music fans losing their minds.
“Something Bigger...”
When Norton asked whether she was planning to tour the new album—marking her first major live stint since her career-spanning Celebration Tour wrapped in May 2024—Madonna confirmed that she’d be doing promo tours, then, next summer, “something bigger…”
Norton’s eyes went wide as he seemed to realise what she meant: “Oh! Oh, OK… That sounds really exciting and good and I think I know what you’re talking about. Is it in this country?”
“It could be,” Madonna teased. “Why do you have to know everything? I’ve told you a lot of interesting things, that’s what you get, and the rest you have to wait for.”
She continued: “I heard this phrase a long time ago that the definition of being an adult is the ability to delay gratification.”
“Wow, I am not an adult,” Norton said, to laughter from Madonna.
A Match Made in Festival Heaven
While nothing is officially confirmed, the puzzle pieces fit perfectly. Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has made no secret of the fact that she has always wanted Madonna to play Glastonbury.
Rumours previously swirled that the “Holiday” star could headline the 2024 event after Eavis heaped praise on her after seeing her perform at the O2 Arena in London. While that performance didn’t manifest into a Worthy Farm appearance at the time, next summer is looking increasingly likely.
If the speculation holds true, festival-goers could be in for one of the most star-studded lineups in history; pop powerhouse Taylor Swift is also rumoured to be performing at next year’s festival.
Until the official lineup drops, fans will just have to practice that “delayed gratification” Madonna spoke of.
