BBC Radio 2 presenter Trevor Nelson has announced he is taking a temporary break from broadcasting after follow-up medical tests, telling fans he is focused on recovering and returning to work as soon as possible.

The 62-year-old broadcaster said he was advised to undergo follow-up tests after a routine check-up.
He confirmed he is taking additional time off to focus on his recovery.

BBC Radio 2 DJ Trevor Nelson has revealed he is taking “a little break” from his work commitments while he focuses on his health.
The 62-year-old broadcaster has been absent from his regular 2pm to 4pm Radio 2 programme this week after being advised to undergo further medical tests following a routine health check.
On Friday (26.06.26), Trevor shared the news with fans on Instagram.
He wrote: “I wanted to let my followers, radio listeners and all my Soul Nation party-people know that I’m going to be taking a little break from my work commitments.
“Some of you may already have noticed that I’ve not been on my daily Radio 2 slot this week.
“After a routine check-up I was advised to have some follow up tests. As a result, I will be taking some further time off. As I’m sure you can appreciate with health issues it’s important to deal with facts and not speculate.
“So I’m concentrating on getting better, being back to 100 per cent me and to getting back behind the mic and the decks. (sic)”
BBC Director of Music Lorna Clarke led the tributes, issuing a statement wishing the veteran presenter a speedy recovery.
She said: “Everyone at BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1Xtra wishes Trevor a very speedy recovery and we all look forward to him returning to his shows whenever he is ready.”
The announcement prompted an outpouring of support from colleagues, celebrity friends and listeners.
Broadcaster Bob Harris, who recently stepped away from BBC Radio 2 after revealing his prostate cancer had spread to his bones, commented: “All my love Trevor.”
Presenter Richie Anderson, who has been filling in on Trevor’s afternoon programme, wrote: “Get well soon Trevor. You’re so loved mate. Look after yourself xx (sic).”
Singer Beverley Knight added: “Health. First and always.”
Fans also flooded the comments section with well wishes.
One supporter wrote: “Get well soon Trevor. You will be missed in the afternoons.”
Another commented: “Wishing you a speedy recovery. Loads of love to you and your family. We’ll be waiting for you when you come back x x x (sic).”
A third added: “Love and Prayers to you Trevor. Take it a day at a time.”
The health update comes just days after Trevor was honoured with a special award at the TRIC Awards on Tuesday (23.06.26), recognising his outstanding career in radio and television.
Trevor has spent three decades with the BBC, joining Radio 1 in 1996 where he launched the UK’s first national R+B show before introducing an R+B chart programme. He joined BBC Radio 1Xtra in 2007, began hosting his BBC Radio 2 show in 2008 and departed Radio 1 in 2013.
